Our vision: To prepare all of our students to be financially literate. The goal of this project is to enable students to make wise, value based choices concerning the use of money that will help them now and in the future.
Classroom teachers use a classroom economy program called ClassEquity which teaches students to manage money by allowing teachers to pay them a salary for their classroom jobs and send them bonuses for demonstrating good charachter, academic achievement, or classroom contests. Students can then use their classroom salaries to pay bills and buy things in the class store. In addtion to a standard classroom checking account, students can now also plan long term savings with the Spring 2024 introduction of the Savings Account feature, where they can save money for big spends and earn interest. Each time a student recieves a deposit, transfers money, or buys items or pays bills they must do the computations themselves to balance their account offering students regular opportunities to interact with the process of sending and recieving money.
